This, unfortunately, is true for the JApanese cars too. Hondas from the 80s and maybe first half of 90s are bullet-proof. But now…not so sure.

American cars are HUGE pieces of junk in the 70s, 80s but have gotten a little better in the last few years. Ford particularly.

@fentonjd Most of my experience in the US is that the electronics are toast after 110k miles or so (on the 80’s and 90’s models, don’t know much about the newer ones).

I work at BMW Germany. I drive an old 635Csi and in my opinion the new BMW ( after 2000 models ) are crap. After 5 years you will have trouble whit the electronic. The only problem the old cars have is rust. In my opinion the new cars have much more problems then the old ones. Thats the same whit Mercedes, too everyone who has clue says that the w124 is the most reliable benz and it was made in the 80s. The new cars have much more problems than the old ones ( 70s till early 90s )

I hate BMW, I’d never buy one as the imagine is of stuck up asshole middle management drives who think they’re beter than everyone else.

But they sure as hell are reliable cars, and in terms of driving dynamics almost untouchable.

I don’t know what shit BMW give you guys in the states, but in Europe if you can afford BMW then you expect premium reliablity and that is what you get.

@fentonjd Wow, someone is going off of 20 year old data, aren’t they? Oh wait, BMW’s from the 80’s and 90’s are TERRIBLE. Ever heard of electronics? I wouldn’t touch an old BMW or even a newer (up till 2005 ish) VW. Go read something before you post opinion as fact.

@Patrunic Umm… You’re thinking of the Caddy’s of 5 and 10 years ago. And yes. My brother in law has a BMW 5 series, 2008, and a good friend of mine has a 2005 Mercedes CLS500. Now, to try and decipher your terrible grammar…

You say a BMW is more comfortable, I say a Caddy is more comfortable. You say a Caddy is less reliable, yet major publications disagree with you (Chevy V8’s last forever). Value is defined as quality over price, and Caddy delivers so much more than BMW.

…have YOU been in a BMW ever, or at all recently? a cadillac has cheap plastic interior, lower quality seating therefore less comfort, far less reliability due to the fact the manufacturing of cadillacs means that the high stress parts wear out extremely quickly and value because why, a caddy costs less then a BMW? thats not value, thats simply cheaper, a caddy provides less in basically every area you just listed barring power in some models.
